Book Syd at Your College!

Bringing Syd to your school is a lot easier than you might think. Just follow these simple steps and if you have any questions along the way feel free to email george@houseofwally.com

Find Student Life
Look up the Student Life or Student Activities contact info on your school's website...or personally visit the Activities office (most are in the Student Centers or Unions) and recommend Syd for concerts.

CAB, SPB, SAC, VW, TWA...
The organization that puts on the majority of shows is the "program board."  There are many abbreviations for them. CAB - Campus Activities Board, UPC - University Program Board, SAC - Student Activities Committee, CAT - Campus Activities Team, SPB, APB, you get the idea..
There's usually a music/concert/or coffeehouse chair on these committees and they're in charge of bringing in musical talent to campus.  That's the person to request to put Syd on campus.

Democracy! For Real!
The key here is volume...the more students that speak up, the more the Activities has to listen.  Get your friends involved and be persistent.  These organizations are supposed to represent you, and they're supposed to book what you want to see.

If You Can, Be Specific
There might be a Fall or Spring Festival (Springweek, Fallfest, Summer Sendoff, Spring Weekend, etc..) or other Special Event that normally have bands playing.  THIS IS PERFECT FOR SYD.   Student Activities usually handles these as well.  Say something like "Many of us want to see Syd perform at (name of event)."

Arm Yourself
Here are 4 facts that will help you help your school bring Syd:
1. Syd is represented by Wally's World of Entertainment
2. Syd can be either an acoustic duo, an acoustic band or a full-on rock band
3. Music is online at myspace.com/syd or sonicbids.com/syd
4. Syd's college resume includes over 150 schools, many of which have had him back on numerous occasions. (read reviews from schools here)

*NOTE* If you go to a Prep School, you want to look at the college booking information, because prep schools are often run a lot like colleges *NOTE*

Trickier, But Worth It
Since most public highschools don't have programming boards or activities councils or jedi councils it take a little more legwork. However, many organizations, clubs, and groups sponsor entertainment at public schools. Syd has played at public school events organized by the senior class, by the music department, or by students that start clubs just to bring him--anyone who wants to put on a show can usually find a way to make it happen.

Where/When To Have The Show?
If you don't have an area or time slot typically committed to live music performances, get creative. Sometimes schools will hold special perfomance assemblies where we come in and play for all of you guys. Sometimes we'll do a show and then a songwriting workshop with and advanced music class.

So...Wait, What Do I Do?
Just let whoever is in charge know about Syd (or take charge yourself) and ask him or her to contact the band by writing booking@syd-music.com. Then we'll follow up and the ball will be rolling and the next thing you know it's 7 AM and Syd just rolled out of bed for you.
